Dr. Maija Cheung is a surgeon, educator, and global health advocate dedicated to expanding access to safe surgery worldwide. She serves as Chief Medical Officer and Executive Director of Kids Operating Room (KidsOR) USA, leading initiatives to improve surgical care for children in underserved regions around the world. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital and Global Lead for Surgery at Kids Operating Room. A graduate of Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, Dr. Cheung combines clinical expertise with a passion for equity, advancing programs that strengthen surgical systems and inspire the next generation of global health leaders.
